Most cameras today come fully equipped with a built-in motor drive or winder, which allows photographers to attain a higher degree of success when recording motion. Without the aid of a motor drive or winder, it’s often a hit-and-miss proposition as you try to anticipate the exact right moment to fire the shutter. With the aid of a winder or motor drive, you can begin firing the shutter several seconds ahead of the peak action and continue firing through to a second or two after, and it’s a very safe bet that one—if not several—of the exposures will succeed! Depending on your camera, you may have one “continuous shooting mode” speed or several. Some cameras offer a “low” mode, which fires off about two frames per second, while others offer also offer a “high” mode, which can fire off upward of seven frames per second.
